Religious conflicts

It’s not a secret that religion is one of the most controversial topics. Unfortunately, with how heated arguments over religion can get, differences in beliefs can and have split apart numerous families and relationships. Why does this happen?
Why does religion matter so much?
Someone’s religion is usually a blueprint of their morals, beliefs, and general personality. Associating with someone with a religion is common because of the subconscious or conscious prejudices people may hold against particular religions. If it is clear that someone practices a religion that someone disagrees with, the former will most likely avoid becoming close with the believer.
To be fair, it is reasonable to want to stay away from someone that goes against your fundamental beliefs. However, everyone maintains different ideals, so basing someone on first impressions or mere stereotypes is an unfair judgment of character. It only adds fuel to the fire against those people who practice certain religions, especially if others buy into the stigma as well.
Religious discrimination against anyone is -- for lack of better words -- a ridiculous way to look at personal relationships. A person’s religion does not dictate every aspect of how they think. For example, tens of millions of Christians (keep in mind that there are more than 2 billion of them) do not believe that LGBTQ+ people will “go to hell.” So, understand that it’s fine to disagree with someone’s morals, but you cannot pretend to know a person’s morals only based on their religion.
