You’ve probably heard the term “humanitarian crisis” or “humanitarian disaster” before and probably know what it means. A humanitarian crisis/disaster is one or multiple events that are threatening the health/safety/well-being of multiple humans. Right now in the world, a humanitarian crisis is going on in the country of Mozambique.
Mozambique is an under-developed country situated on the south-eastern coast of Africa, directly to the west of Madagascar. Here, we can find the Islamic State’s Central Africa Province—abbreviated IS-CAP. Since their creation, they’ve been occupying Mozambique, constantly murdering, raping, abducting, and committing other crimes on the civilians of this country.
More than 730000 people have been forced to flee the country and around 2000 others died because of the constant attacks. Luckily, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL—an organization from Québec—has been providing Mozambique civilians with drinking water, hygiene kits, etc. with the help of UNICEF and other organizations. The situation is far from over and will surely not end tomorrow. However, we can only wish for those who are fleeing the country and those who are prevented from doing so that they will successfully escape the fighting with their lives.
