Floods are common natural disasters. As a matter of fact, floods are the most common weather-related natural disasters in the world. But despite its frequent occurrence, people need to take action since floods are really destructive. That’s why flash floods are so dangerous. Take the destructive power of a flood and add speed to it, that’s a flash flood.

Already more than 200 people are found dead and some still missing in the flood that occurred in Germany and Belgium as of July 22nd. This terrible flood was caused in West Germany by storms and unceasing rains. The river Ahr continued to fill up until, eventually, it spilled out, causing a lot of damage to the environment and buildings nearby. Floods were also reported in Belgium, but Germany was more impacted than its neighboring country. Multiple residents were shocked by the intensity of the rain and storm saying that they’ve never seen anything like that before.

As if the floods had any link to climate change, scientists cannot say for sure that it is related, but many of them predicted that climate change would lead to more extreme weather.
